I love giving up one week of my holiday every year to spend with teenagers who won’t go to sleep and give you loads of attitude… just kidding, it’s great!
The group leader is probably the key role in the staff teams which run each week of camp, their dedication and commitment will determine the effectiveness of the week. You are in ‘loco parentis’ for the week – that is, you should act as a reasonable, caring parent, acting responsibly at all times. However this does not exclude a sense of fun, you will certainly need a sense of humour to survive the week!
For the leaders Camp is not primarily a holiday but most leaders find the experience uplifting and encouraging if not a little tiring!
